Management at Momart, which stores and transports works on behalf of The Tate Galleries, the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the artist Damien Hirst, will receive the bulk of the proceeds after the group was bought in a £10.3m ($20m) cash and shares deal on Tuesday by Aim-listed Falkland Islands Holdings.
Momart shipped exhibits including “The Dance” (pictured) by Henri Matisse as part of the From Russia exhibition currently on show at the Royal Academy.
Four years ago, a fire at Momart’s warehouse in east London destroyed hundreds of works by artists including Tracey Emin and Jake and Dinos Chapman.
