UK company Trilogy Logistics has acquired CM Lane to provide greater warehouse capacity and staffing as part of the company's ongoing growth in the provision of logistics solutions to the entertainment industry.
Trilogy described CM Lane, which was founded in 1974 and operates over 250,000 sq ft of warehousing space in two English centres, Northampton and Dunstable, as one of the UK's most established third party logistics companies. Trilogy said it would move its operations to the Northampton base over the coming months and would retain all CM Lane staff as part of the acquisition.
According to Trilogy, CM Lane originated within the transport business running a large fleet of vehicles and had strong relationships with retailer Argos. Historically, the business had worked on behalf of toy and entertainment companies.
Trilogy managing director Matthew Allen commented: "We are now working with some of the best names in the entertainment industry and this acquisition will ensure that we can service them effectively with a solid supporting infrastructure. This acquisition not only quadruples the size of our warehouse operation but also doubles our head count and creates more opportunity for growth."
Trilogy Logistics claims to be the UK's only independent third party logistics company operating in the entertainment markets, including the DVD, video, games, books and consumer electronics sectors.
